NASA Astronauts to Make History as First Boeing Starliner Crew
Starliner Crew Flight Test Set for May 6, 2024
Boeing to Demonstrate Spacecraft's Capabilities in Critical Test Mission
Boeing is set to launch its first-ever Starliner astronaut mission for NASA as early as May 6, 2024, on a critical test flight to showcase the spacecraft's capabilities.
The crew, led by veteran NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore, Barry Wilmore, and Sunita Williams, will make history as the first to fly on Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. The mission is a major milestone for Boeing, which has been working to develop and test Starliner for several years.
During the uncrewed and crewed flight tests, NASA will assess the spacecraft's performance and readiness for operational missions to the International Space Station (ISS). Boeing has also contracted with NASA for six crew rotation missions to the ISS aboard Starliner.
The upcoming flight test will be a crucial step towards Boeing's goal of providing safe and reliable transportation for NASA astronauts to the ISS.
