Steve Bannon Ordered to Report to Prison by July 1
Former Trump Adviser Faces Four-Month Sentence for Contempt of US Congress
Washington, D.C. - A federal judge has ordered Steve Bannon to report to prison by July 1.
Bannon, a former top adviser to Donald Trump, was convicted of contempt in July 2022 for defying a subpoena to testify before a congressional panel that investigated the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He was sentenced to a four-month prison term and ordered to pay a $6,500 fine.
Bannon has been out on bail while he appealed his conviction. However, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit recently upheld the lower court's ruling, and Bannon is now required to surrender to authorities by July 1.
Bannon's attorney, David Schoen, said that his client plans to continue appealing his conviction.
